Thanks to the many residents who signed petition forms, Lib Dem Councillor and local resident Philip Goldenberg was able to persuade last week's Local Committee to bring forward the safety audit of the dreadful junction of White Rose Lane and Heathside Crescent.

Local residents are furious at the danger caused by the new layout designed by the Conservative-controlled Local Committee. Local Lib Dem Cllr Norman Johns said: "Drivers are utterly bewildered as they turn left coming up White Rose Lane. Should they look left and right for pedestrians crossing, or over their right shoulders for merging traffic? The whole thing is an accident waiting to happen."

Philip also persuaded the Committee that the safety audit should examine the Lib Dem proposal to re-design the junction with a central refuge so as to prevent these conflicts.
