Melisa Kuipers
Melisa has enjoyed being an active member of the local community in Horsell, where she volunteers for and helps local charities. Over the years Melisa has helped support elderly residents, been a reading partner to support young children, helped organise fundraising and social activities for schools, and assisted at the Rainbows. Melisa has lived in the village for twenty years where she is raising her teenage children with her husband.
Melisa has worked as airline cabin crew, and in customer support and account management for a City bank. Melisa also set up and ran a local baby massage business. She now works in administration at a local school. Melisa’s career has focused on customer service and administration, and she wishes to use those skills to serve her community.
Melisa believes that we can and must overcome the council’s inherited situation to establish a financially stable and effective council. She is deeply concerned by cuts to services and personally sees the impact on residents of different ages and circumstances living in Woking.
The council’s financial situation unfortunately made cuts necessary, but the Liberal Democrats have balanced the budget for the first time in a decade. This is an important step towards the financial stability needed to rebuild services for the community. The Liberal Democrats are working hard to find fair and compassionate solutions for residents. For many residents this is a difficult time, and they have unfairly borne the burden of a financial crisis that was not their fault. Melisa shares the Liberal Democrat’s values of fairness, community, and the environment.
Melisa has enjoyed being part of the vibrant and supportive Horsell community for twenty years. She would like to give back and serve her community. Melisa has spoken to over 700 Horsell residents over the last year and she continues to speak to residents to understand your views and concerns. If you elect her, she will be glad to represent you with integrity and determination.
