Press Release on Waste Plant Proposal

2 May 2005

From the beginning (January 2005) Anne Lee has confronted Woking Borough Council with residents' fears about the Conservative Executive Borough Council's proposals for a Waste Plant.

She said "I am pleased that this, and other pressure has resulted in the Borough Council looking for an alternative site away from this densely populated residential area. I am also encouraging them to look at alternative technologies."

In answer to a question about the proposed waste plant at the Churches Together public meeting on 1st May 05 Anne Lee said she was against the Tory Borough Council Executive's proposals for this type of waste plant in a residential area.

After the meeting she said:

"If elected I will campaign against it. I am concerned about the use of untested technology. Residents are concerned about their health and the health of their children and I want to pursue these worries for them."
