Over 30,000 patients waiting to start NHS treatment at Ashford and St Peter’s
The latest statistics from NHS England, reveal that 30,662 patients are waiting to start treatment at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital.
The stats show that some 5,714 patients have been left waiting over 18 weeks after their referral to treatment, while almost 100 have been waiting over a whole year.
Nationally, the figures show that 6 million people are on NHS waiting lists - a number that has doubled since 2015. This has led to the Lib Dems slamming the Conservative Government for putting in-fighting ahead of the health crisis the country faces.
Commenting Lib Dem Councillor Will Forster, said:
"It is beyond disappointing to see the Government sit on their hands and fail to tackle the backlog in operations because of internal Tory Party fighting."
"These statistics show that almost 30,000 patients across Woking and the surrounding area are being left to suffer because the Government cannot seem to get its ducks in a row and sort out the operation backlog."
"Residents have played their part in protecting the NHS and now they deserve better. At the very least the Government should start the process to help the thousands of people left stranded on huge waiting lists at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital."
