Lib Dem Councillor Norman Johns has condemned the proposed closure of Oriental Road Post Office. Cllr Johns said "I am appalled that this community Post Office serving people south of the Railway Station is to go."

He adds "Post offices like the one in Oriental Road are also family businesses which means their livelihoods are callously taken away. They provide a focal point in the community and a genuine service to local people"

Liberal Democrats have been leading the campaign to save our Post Offices including Woking's main branch which is to be downgraded. Local campaigner Rosie Sharpley said "Despite all the efforts of Lib Dems and local people we hear this will take place in May this year."

Only the Liberal Democrats have a fully costed plan to save our Post Offices through a share ownership Trust scheme similar to the John Lewis partnership. This would provide the necessary capital to maintain and even expand the current network.
