Chris Took joins local communities in welcoming Chinese New Year

19 Feb 2015

Almost half a million people in the UK are set to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year this evening (Thursday February 19th).

The celebrations are widely viewed as the most important holiday for Chinese people worldwide and festivities continue until the famous Lantern Festival in early March.

Commenting, Woking Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Chris Took stated:

"The Chinese community in Woking is very diverse and very strong, and this time of year helps recognise and celebrate that fact.

"I hope the festivities offer an opportunity for the Chinese community to reflect on their superb achievements locally as well as enable them to look forward and celebrate what's to come.

"I would like to send my warmest greetings to everyone celebrating Chinese New Year, may you have a prosperous new year."

Woking Borough Council has listed many of the celebrations that are planned on the following helpful page
