A General Election is coming and we need your help!
It will be no surprise to you that we are gearing up for a snap General Election when we will have an excellent chance to unseat Jonathan Lord, Tory MP for Woking.
Part of our planning includes support for our Executive Officers and their portfolios.
As a result, we have some exciting opportunities to help strengthen our resources and capability in the areas of Membership Development, Campaigns, Data, Events and Social Media. See below for more information.
If you are interested in joining a team or want to be involved but are not sure how then please email John@WokingLibDems.org.uk
We really welcome your support.
Membership Development
Membership Development Officer: Angela Hughes
Membership engagement is the core to any political party and in Woking our member numbers have increased significantly recently. We want to make sure that our membership continues to be actively engaged and involved in the local party.
The membership portfolio involves visiting and communicating with members, welcoming new members, encouraging members to renew, identifying ward ambassadors and supporting them and generally encouraging membership involvement across the local party.
We are looking for people to join the team.
Campaigns
Campaigns Manager: John Doran
As part of the campaigns team, members will be able to help set the strategic direction of the local party's campaigning and ensure that our team is as effective as possible at winning elections.
Members can take on responsibility for campaigning across a local area or can help with specific tasks such as leading campaigns or literature delivery. No prior experience is needed - full training will be given.
We urgently need help in the following areas:
- Campaigns Manager job share September to October 2019
- Campaign Wednesdays - every week we are meeting 2-5pm at John Doran's house, 23 Walden's Park Drive, Horsell, GU21 4RN to do admin tasks including folding letters and stuffing envelopes
- Ward Organisers - to arrange leaflet deliveries and canvassing in their areas
- Poster boards - if you're happy to use a hammer then join the team to put up poster boards.
Data
Data Officer: Simon Castle
Data lies at the core of politics and campaigning - successful campaigns are built on solid data. The Data Office is responsible for:
- Managing our data, including identifying data to engage our constituents
- Acquiring and analysing data, including designing survey and canvassing questions to ensure we understand the issues in our communities and can respond
- Utilising data to optimise our campaigning efforts and ensure we connect with all our likely and persuadable voters.
We are looking for people to join the team. Full training will be given.
Events
Events Coordinator: Anne Roberts
Joining the Events Team is a great way to meet other local Lib Dem members and to participate in something you are interested in. We welcome volunteers who want to help organise regular events or simply organise a one-off event. We are open to new ideas - a gala dinner, pub quiz, politics and pizza, a speaker, debates, coffee mornings - as we seek to engage all our members. Bring us your ideas and organising spirit and we will make sure the local party benefits from your enthusiasm!
Social Media
Digital Manager: Breandan Murphy
Social Media is one of the most important ways in which we engage with our membership and potential voters. We need to grab people's attention over a multitude of platforms. We are constantly looking for creative and innovative ways to put our message across.
The portfolio involves developing and delivering targeted messages across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We are looking for members to help create and deliver eye catching and effective content using videos, photos and graphics.
Elections are increasingly won or lost based on our ability to reach voters on Social Media. Join the team to raise the profile of Woking Lib Dems.
