Woking's MP will never be forgiven for standing by Boris Johnson through years of sleaze and scandal.

It has been shocking and shameful to see Woking's Conservative MP stand loyally by Boris Johnson and his Government through years of scandals and lies.

After years of silence, at the eleventh hour, Jonathan Lord finally admitted that the Prime Minister has lost the confidence of his parliamentary colleagues and should stand down. However, Woking's MP failed to say that he had lost confidence in Boris Johnson and did not call for his resignation. It is clear Woking's MP only acted at the last minute to save his own skin.

Lib Dem Spokesperson for Woking said:

"Local people keep telling us they will never forgive Woking's MP for standing by Boris Johnson for so long alongside the Tory Government's policies that have failed local people and businesses again and again.

"We need a local MP who will put local people's needs over party loyalty to a Conservative Party which has proven to be completely out of touch. Tory MPs, including Jonathan Lord, have voted through unfair tax hikes on working families, voted in favour of water companies being allowed to pump sewage into our rivers and supported the scrapping of triple-lock pensions.

"This country needs change and real leadership to deal with the cost of living crisis and record NHS waiting times. The Conservative Party have proven they are not up to the job."

Responding to Boris Johnson resigning as Prime Minister, Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey, added:

"It has always been clear that Boris Johnson is unfit to lead our country. The public won't forgive the Tories for propping him up for so long. MPs like Woking's have spent months defending Boris Johnson instead of focusing on the cost-of-living crisis and the crisis in our NHS."

"Across the country, lifelong Conservative voters are fed up with being taken for granted. Johnson or no Johnson, trust in the Tories has gone and it will not be coming back."
