Commenting on this Will said, "Pleased to have been re-elected with a much increased majority in South Woking - my local residents are clearly far from happy with the Tories".

We also had a phenomenal campaign in Horsell Village and Goldsworth East where John Doran came within a whisker (58 votes!) of unseating the Conservative Councillor there.

Though disappointed John was heartened by the result noting, "The Tory vote grew less than ours, but that seems to have completely come from mostly UKIP supporters going to Theresa May's UKIPLite. Labours vote actually went up slightly so basically we actually persuaded over 600 new people to come out and vote Lib Dem! Turnout went from 33% to 41%! So that was quite an achievement!"

Overall in Surrey the Lib Dems went up to 9 seats and will continue to be the main opposition to the Conservatives. The Lib Dems will be working hard to hold the ruling Tories to account for the next 4 years.

There was huge appreciation from all our candidates for the hard work that all volunteers, (veterans and newbies!) put in over the course of the campaign in all areas of Woking. We will be building on this for GE2017 in coming weeks. As ever, any contribution you can make in terms of time or treasure is appreciated and vital for GE2017.
