Polls show Will Forster could be set to win in Woking

• Polling reveals that only Will Forster and the Liberal Democrats really can beat the Conservatives in Woking but not without the support of tactical voters from the Labour Party. 

• Lib Dem candidate, Will Forster says that “people across Woking say they are sick of Conservative mismanagement and ready for change”. 

• Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey said: “People are crying out for change and turning to the Liberal Democrats to deliver it.” 

At this election, the latest polls show Liberal Democrat Will Forster looks set to win in Woking.  As the final week of campaigning starts, the Lib Dems are going into the campaign with momentum on their side.  

The result of the 2019 election shows that only the Lib Dems can beat the Conservatives in Woking.  Tactical voting sites such as GetVoting (Best for Britain), Tactical.Vote and StopTheTories (Unite Against the Tories) have confirmed this by identifying the Lib Dems as the best choice to beat the Conservatives. 

Leading tactical voting site Best for Britain released data last month supporting this view, making it clear that voting for Will Forster is the best way to avoid a Conservative win in Woking. 

The Labour Party candidate in Woking in the 2019 General Election, Gerry Mitchell has endorsed Will Forster and is urging local people to vote for him. 

The Lib Dems won four historic parliamentary by-elections from the Conservatives in recent years and have gained hundreds of local councillors in local elections across the country since 2019.  Now the party looks set to win in Woking. 

The Lib Dems have said that every elected MP will be a strong local champion and will campaign hard for an emergency health budget in Parliament. 

Lib Dem candidate for Woking, Will Forster, said:  

“It’s a two-horse race here in Woking.  But to beat the Conservatives we need Labour and Green supporters to lend us their votes to make sure this happens.” 

“After speaking to hundreds of people in this campaign, it’s clear that people are desperate for change.  In Woking, the only chance to get that change is to back the Lib Dems.  The Conservatives have taken people for granted for years, our MP allowed his party to effectively bankrupt Woking Council and is not listening to local people.  Labour simply can’t win here.” 

“By voting Lib Dem you are voting for a strong local champion who will fight for a fair deal – to fix our health and care crisis, get our economy back on track, to push for fairer Council funding and to end the sewage scandal.” 

Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey added: 

“There is now no ceiling on my ambition for the Lib Dems and for our United Kingdom.  People are crying out for change and turning to the Lib Dems to deliver it in areas where only we can defeat the Conservatives.”
