Lib Dems get Woking Station’s subway improved
Following a request from Lib Dem Councillors, Woking Borough Council has committed to improving the subway under Woking Station.
Councillor Liam Lyons got unanimous support for his motion during last week's Full Council meeting. Liam Lyons and his Lib Dem colleagues called on the Council to take advantage of the significantly lower numbers of pedestrians using the subway underneath Woking Station, as a result of the current coronavirus restrictions, and arrange for the subway to be refurbished.
Lib Dem Borough Councillor for Mount Hermon, Liam Lyons, said:
"Many local residents use the pedestrian underpass underneath Woking Station on a regularly basis, but it has become dilapidated and is in a poor state of repair and decor. At times it can be unpleasant and an eyesore for pedestrians transiting between south Woking and the town centre. I am really pleased that the Council agreed with me and that it will now be refurbished - which is long overdue."
Lib Dem County Councillor for Woking South, Will Forster, added:
"My well done to my colleague Liam Lyons on getting this motion agreed. In normal times, so many pedestrians use Woking's subway, they deserve a clean subway."
