WOKING LIBERAL DEMOCRATS LEARN FROM GUILDFORD'S EXPERIENCE

5 Apr 2005

Dr Anne Lee, Woking Liberal Democrats Prospective MP said:"In Woking, Liberal Democrats are looking forward to the general election campaign enormously.

"Our recent parliamentary by-election successes in places as diverse as Leicester South and Brent East will stand us in good stead and show that can we win seats up and down the country.

"The principled stance of our MPs in Parliament against invading Iraq without proper evidence or international support has struck a chord with many people. Locally we have been working hard to ensure that we understand what people want from their next MP. Issues such as health services, tuition fees, council tax and the environment are all of much concern to local people and we look forward to discussing them during the election.

"Our borough council election results last year (when both parties lost seats to the Liberal Democrats) gave us a terrific boost and showed that Woking is ready to elect a Liberal Democrat MP. We will strive to make that a reality."

Sue Doughty MP for Guildford will be reminding Woking members and supporters how she won Guildford from the Tories in 2001, when she speaks at the Maybury Centre on Friday 11th April at 8 pm.
