Dale Roberts: Your strong local voice for
St John's and Woking South West
Dale has lived in Woking for over twenty years and, over that time, has run a number of technology businesses that have employed hundreds of people in the South East of England. Today, he runs a commercial dispute resolution practice and volunteers as a community mediator for Mediation Surrey. Dale is an author and has published two books on digital business, but also keeps active as a runner. His most ambitious race was a marathon that started at Everest Base Camp raising funds for Parkinsons UK and the Brain Tumour Charity. He jointly organises one of the local Covid support groups covering Brookwood, St John's and Knaphill.
Climate
Commitments to the environment and local green spaces are a given according to Dale but he is also enthusiastic about the role of businesses in the Woking community and making local government competent, efficient, transparent and accountable.
Dale said, "It's time for local government to operate in the best and long-term interest of the community it serves and to make evidenced based decisions that stand up to scrutiny."
"I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to apply my experience in modern, agile businesses to local government and will work diligently on issues that matter to the residents of St John's and the wider Woking area".
Dale to Work with Local Business to define Post-Covid High Street
Dale wants to help local businesses understand the needs of their local communities to develop high streets to better serve local people. Dale says "Now is the time for residents to have their say on what services they want access to on their doorstep, and how they want to access them." "Services should reflect the many and various needs of the people of Woking, including the increasing numbers that will, in future, have to balance more working locally with commuting".
Dale will Defend Green Spaces
Green spaces such as the Basingstoke Canal and St John's Lye should never be compromised in the interests of developers or centralised planning decisions. They are just too important to the lives of those that live closest to them.
"Our green spaces are an endless blessing" according to Lib Dem candidate Dale Roberts. "I enjoy a walk or run on the Basingstoke Canal most every day of the year and I want to ensure that these natural resources, home to an abundance of wildlife and plants, will be enjoyed by our children and their children, as much as they are today."
Dale said "If I am elected, I will be tireless in my defence of these beautiful and important green spaces in St. John's and the Woking area."
