Chris Martin has lived locally for ten years with his wife and two young sons. He has a multi-disciplined history of achievement as a rower in Team GB's World Championship crews, as a record setting ocean rower crossing the Pacific Ocean by human power, as an entrepreneur founding events around the world (including working with a cancer charity) and through his work supporting military veterans.

As an enthusiastic cyclist, he has concerns about the condition of local roads, particularly as his brother suffered serious injuries a few years ago after cycling into a pothole.

Chris believes that the true scale of the financial challenge facing Woking is only just becoming clear and he wants to help Woking Council return to just being a council, rather than an entrepreneurial property developer or bank. He is encouraged by the work the Liberal Democrat led council has done to date to start unpicking the poor state of affairs inherited by the previous administration. He believes that the steps taken, including stopping councillors from being directors of council owned companies and uncovering the financial irregularities in the accounts of these same companies, highlight the scale of the work yet to be done.

Other issues Chris is focussed on are the parking and verges at Marshalls parade, creation of a Maybury Residents Association, returning a Post Office and Chemist to West Byfleet and improvement of Pyrford welcome signs.
